"The Vow" Free Book from NOOK for Web

Today, Barnes and Noble announced they have a new way to read NOOK books called NOOK for Web. You can read NOOK books on your computer without having to download software and take up precious memory space.  They are also offering six free NOOK books at the NOOK for Web website.  The really good news is that the free books from NOOK for Web also download to your NOOK eReader, although some users said it took up to an hour for them to transfer.

Barnes and Noble picked out six books from different genres, so readers should be able to enjoy at least one of the books.  From the Christian Market, they chose The Vow by Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.

Getting these books are a little different than purchasing the normal NOOK books from the Barnes and Noble website.  You need to go to the NOOK for Web website to get these books.  If you go to bn.com, you will be charged for them.  You can click on the link here to get to the correct website.  http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook-for-web/379003594

Next you need to scroll down to the individual pictures of the six books they are offering for free.  Click on the one you want.  In this case, click on The Vow to bring up a new window, and a sample of the book will appear.  You will notice in the upper right-hand corner, there is a white button that says "NOOK Book $0.00."  Click on that button (Note:  if the button has a price other than $0.00, they will charge you that price for the book).  If you are not signed in, Barnes and Noble will ask you to sign in with your account (or make a new one if this is your first purchase from Barnes and Noble).  Then you will confirm that you want to buy that NOOK book.  It's that easy.  Buy all six or just the ones you want to read.

Now you will be able to read these and other previously purchased NOOK books on your PC without taking up space.  What is really neat is that if you read something on your computer, you can keep reading it on your NOOK device as long as your device is Wi-Fi enabled.  It will keep track of where you left off (well, mine was a page behind where I left off, but it was close enough for my taste).

It's a little work for a free book today, but I am very excited about having NOOK for Web.  Note that these NOOK books are being offered only until July 26, 2012.  So hurry and get them.
